This year marks the 10th year anniversary of the first Radiation Oncology Medical Physicists (ROMP) certification. After undergoing the rigorous two-part examination conducted by Dr. Brendan Healy and Prof. Lilian V. Rodriguez, eleven medical physicists successfully passed the coveted certification. These were Engr. Norberto A. Abella, Jr., Ms. Maureen R. Bojador, Engr. Monica T. Bacaling, Mr. Ramil Cabaluna, Mr. Jonathan D. Corpuz, Mr. Eliseo dela Cruz, Mr. Mart Lester de Guzman, Engr. Teofilo M. Hermoso, Ms. Ranell M. Razon, Mr. Julius Cezar P. Rojales, and Ms. Merle P. Sintos.

On 18 August 2010, a ROMP certification awarding ceremony took place in Contis Restaurant, Makati, Philippines, where Dr. Tranquilino Elicano, Jr., former director of the National Cancer Control Center, Department of Health, act as the oath-taking presider.

Meanwhile, Engr. Monica T. Bacaling, Mr. Julius Cezar P. Rojales, Mr. Jonathan D. Corpuz, and Engr. Norberto A. Abella, Jr. were inducted as first members of the Board of Radiation Oncology Medical Physicists (BROMP) being the top four examinees in the ROMP certification examination. The newly inducted members of the BROMP took oath before Dr. Celia T. Anatalio, the recognized mother of medical physicists in the Philippines. She was assisted by Prof. Agnette P. Peralta, former director of the Center for Device Regulation, Radiation Health, and Research (CDRRHR) arm of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The first breed of certified ROMPs serve as inspirations and mentors to the succeeding generation of ROMPs. In the ten year period, the BROMP has successfully produced more certified ROMPs in the succeeding residency and certification cycles. These are Ms. Raquel Munsayac, Mr. Randal Remoto, and Mr. Dan Joseph Manlapaz from the second batch, and Mr. Jake John Galingana, Mr. Fredizon Ruiz, Ms. Loura Mae Cruz, and Ms. Kathleen Jane Cortez from the third batch. Currently, the BROMP is on its fourth roll of residency and certification cycle. (ramcarcruz2020)
