Landmark Declaration Signed on Patient Safety and Ethics in Radiological Practice

June 5, 2025 – Manila, Philippines — In a landmark moment for the nation’s radiation healthcare sector, six major professional societies jointly signed the “Joint Declaration on Patient Safety and Professional Ethics in Medical Radiological Practices” on the opening day of the Philippine Conference on Medical Physics 2025, held at the Diamond Hotel Manila.

The declaration signifies a unified and unprecedented commitment to upholding the highest standards of patient safety, professional ethics, and interdisciplinary collaboration in medical radiological procedures across the country.


The following leaders formally signed the declaration on behalf of their respective organizations:


  • Ramon Carlo L. Cruzpero, MSc, President, Society of Medical Physicists in the Republic of the Philippines (SMPRP)

  • Marc Jame DC. Delos Santos, MD, FPCR, FCTMRISP, President, Philippine College of Radiology (PCR)

  • Maria Teresa Julieta U. Benedicto, MD, FPCR, FPROS, President, Philippine Radiation Oncology Society (PROS)

  • Michele A. Duldulao-Ogbac, MD, FPSNM, President, Philippine Society of Nuclear Medicine (PSNM)

  • John Michael B. Medina, RMT, MMPHA, Chair, Philippine Society of Nuclear Medicine Technologists (PSNMT)

  • Cesar P. Abando, RRT, Auditor, on behalf of Mr. Ruben Lorenzo, President of the Philippine Association of Radiologic Technologists (PART)


The declaration affirms the collective resolve of these organizations to strengthen the ethical foundations and safety culture of medical radiological practices in the Philippines. It also emphasizes the crucial role of harmonizing clinical practice, scientific research, and regulatory standards through interdisciplinary cooperation.

The signing ceremony followed the thought-provoking Roundtable Discussion on “Enhancing Collaboration among Radiation Healthcare Professionals”, which brought together key experts from various radiological disciplines to exchange insights on shared challenges and explore avenues for strategic collaboration.


This milestone initiative is the first joint declaration of its kind in the country’s radiological community. It not only sets a benchmark for professional unity but also reinforces the shared vision of advancing a patient-centered, ethically grounded, and safety-driven radiological healthcare system.


As the Philippine medical radiation landscape continues to evolve, this declaration lays the groundwork for sustained cooperation and policy alignment among stakeholders, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to excellence and accountability in medical radiological practice.
