SEACOMP: Uniting
Medical Physicists
Across Southeast Asia
The South East Asia Congress of Medical Physics (SEACOMP) is one of the flagship events organized by the South East Asian Federation of Organizations for Medical Physics (SEAFOMP).
First held in 2001 in Kuala Lumpur, SEACOMP began as a small regional meeting but quickly grew into a major international congress that now draws hundreds of delegates each year. Hosted on a rotating basis among SEAFOMP member countries, SEACOMP has become a vital platform for sharing knowledge, advancing innovation, and building strong professional connections across the region.
In recent years, SEAFOMP has proudly partnered with the Asia Oceania Federation of Organizations for Medical Physics (AFOMP) to co-host SEACOMP alongside the Asia-Oceania Congress of Medical Physics (AOCMP). This collaboration has opened the door to even greater exchange — blending science, culture, and collaboration among professionals from across Asia and beyond.
SEACOMP’s success also paved the way for the creation of the ASEAN College of Medical Physics (ACOMP) in 2014, a major milestone that strengthens education and training opportunities for medical physicists throughout the region.
More than just a scientific conference, SEACOMP is a celebration of community, collaboration, and progress — driving forward the growth of medical physics and improving healthcare standards across Southeast Asia
Together, we’re advancing medical physics for a healthier future.

It is with great pride and pleasure that I welcome all delegates, colleagues, and friends to the 24th Southeast Asian Congress of Medical Physics (SEACOMP) and the 7th Philippine Conference on Medical Physics (PCMP). This year’s joint congress, hosted in the Philippines, is both a celebration of scientific collaboration and a reaffirmation of our shared commitment to advancing the field of medical physics in Southeast Asia.
Our theme, “Synergizing Education and Advancing Clinical Outcomes in Medical Physics,” captures the essence of what sustains our profession — the dynamic interplay between education, research, and clinical practice. Medical physics thrives when knowledge gained in the academic setting is transformed into clinical wisdom, and when clinical experiences, in turn, inform the next wave of innovation and inquiry.
In this regard, clinical medical physicists play a vital role as the bridge between knowledge and practice. They not only ensure the safe and effective application of technology in patient care but also serve as mentors who guide young physicists in navigating the realities of the clinical environment. Through mentorship and shared experience, we cultivate the next generation of competent and compassionate professionals who will continue to uphold the standards of excellence in our discipline.
Equally important is our continued effort to return to the grassroots of education and research. By investing in foundational training, fostering critical thinking, and supporting scientific inquiry, we build a community of well-equipped medical physicists capable of responding to the evolving needs of healthcare. Our collective growth as a profession depends on the strength of these roots — on how well we nurture learning at every level and in every setting.
As we embark on this congress, may it serve as an avenue for collaboration, inspiration, and renewal. Let us continue to share knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and reaffirm our role as essential contributors to healthcare innovation and patient well-being.
On behalf of the Society of Medical Physicists in the Republic of the Philippines (SMPRP), I extend my warmest welcome to all participants and guests. May this congress spark meaningful exchanges, lasting connections, and a renewed passion for advancing medical physics — for our patients, our institutions, and our region.
Maraming salamat, and welcome to SEACOMP and PCMP 2026!
