OUR STORY
Through the Years
Founded in 1986, the Society of Medical Physicists in the Republic of the Philippines (SMPRP), formerly known as the Philippine Organization of Medical Physicists (POMP), has played a pivotal role in shaping the medical physics landscape in the country for over three decades. SMPRP's journey has not been without challenges, but despite these hurdles, pioneering educators and early program graduates have worked tirelessly to inspire and guide new students, helping to establish SMPRP as the leading organization for medical physics in the Philippines.

In 2017, POMP was officially renamed to SMPRP. While the organizational structure underwent significant changes, the core mission of SMPRP remains aligned with that of the Asia-Oceania Federation of Organizations for Medical Physics (AFOMP) and its international counterparts. SMPRP is dedicated to advancing and protecting the profession of medical physics in all its facets. The society fosters collaboration and understanding among medical physicists and allied medical professionals, while also promoting the welfare and professional development of medical physicists in the Philippines.
