The occupation of "Medical Physicist" is included in the International Standard Classification of Occupations (ISCO-08) of the International Labor Organization (ILO), under group 2111 together with physicists and astronomers. HOWEVER, a special and specific note is included mentioning that medical physicists are also considered an integral part of the health workforce, alongside occupations in the healthcare professionals' group (Group 22).
In the Philippines, medical physicists are present and required in health facilities nationwide utilizing their skills and expertise in diagnostic radiology, radiation oncology, nuclear medicine, and more, to improve healthcare delivery. Medical physicists work to ensure that radiation is used safely and accurately in medical procedures.
